Mid-Hudson Valley Ballroom Dance Club
Dance Camp

Join us for MHVBDC's first Dance Camp at Maple Knoll Lodge, at Bowdoin Park, 85 Sheafe Road, Wappingers Falls, NY, on Saturday, July 24, 2010.  The lodge is large, in great condition and has hardwood floors.  It is air conditioned. There will be a full day of dancing, mini-lessons, instructional videos, and fun for all participants.

The day will begin at 10:00 AM, and will be structured such that campers may come and go as they please throughout the day.  Camp counselors will demonstrate steps to a variety of dances at various times during the day.  Other participants may be asked to show a step, if they are "caught doing an interesting move."  There will be plenty of free dance time as well.

Lunch will "on your own."  Brown bag it, if you wish.  Cook your own hot dogs, hamburgers, or your own choice on the nearby grills.  (You will need to bring charcoal to use the grills.)  There is also a small kitchen, including refrigerator, stove, and microwave, for your use.  Lunch dessert will be fresh watermelon- a great treat for a summer afternoon!

Dinner will be available around 5:30 or 6:00 PM.  We will order pizza and salad, at an additional charge, for all who wish to join in.  "Make your own sundaes" will be our dessert treat!

Dancing will continue in the evening until 11:00 PM, or when the last dancer drops!

For those who wish to spend the night, there are four bedrooms at the lodge, each with six "bunk cots."  There are no private accommodations.  You will be sharing a room with other campers.  The lodge also has multiple bathrooms and showers for your use.  Only the first twenty four persons who choose to will be able to stay overnight.  Check-out time is 9:00 AM on Sunday morning. What should you bring to camp?  Bring  yourself, lots of energy, and a willingness to join in and have fun!  Bring a lunch, if you will be there mid-day.  Bring a lawn chair if you wish to relax outside on the large deck.  Bring your own CD's, if you wish to share some new music.  If you would like to spend the night, bring bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows), a change of clothes, and toiletries.  Dress is casual, shorts, slacks, your choice.

Cost for this event is $15.00 per person.  This fee will include the full weekend of events, as well as snack food and drinks (chips, coffee, iced tea, soda, watermelon, ice cream sundaes).  Click here for a registration form.  Registration is open to club members and guests.  Club members will have first preference to overnight accommodations.
